Here is episode #18 of my off the grid project. In this episode I show you my handy-dandy solar power shed. What is a solar power shed you may ask? Well, it is a shed where you house your alternative energy system equipment, and install your solar panels on. In addition, I use it for storage so it serves two purposes, thus the handy-dandy designation 🙂

Well, after watching this episode you will begin to see why I’m calling this season “Fixing Stupid.” I point out just a small part of what my now terminated contractor did last season. Needless to say, his work was some of the worst I have ever seen. With that being said, I’m knee deep fixing everything so I can start with a clean slate. So far me and a helper have spent a month and a half fixing all the crappy work (a generous description) my former General Contractor did last season. After thousands of dollars in materials, and hundreds of hours of labor, I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully in the near future I will begin starting on the next phase and leave this “Fixing Stupid” stuff behind.
Here we are again another exciting season with my “Off The Grid” Project. I’m calling this season “Fixing Stupid,” as some of you know I had to fire my contractor after numerous ethical issues and substandard construction.
Unfortunately the pain is just beginning, because of the numerous problems I have to correct before I can move forward with the project. In the end they will get fixed, but it will take more time and money. Funny how you hire a contractor to save time and money, but the opposite is what usually occurs.
Below is a snippet from my upcoming Off-The-Grid book, which I hope to release in the near future. I have received a ton of questions regarding my off-the-grid project, especially about my difficulties dealing with general contractors. Anyone who has built a house or done some major remodeling knows dealing with contractors can be a serious pain in the you-know-what. There is a lot more to this chapter that I have not included, such as my advice on how to deal with bad contractors, and how to find a good one. To see the entire chapter you will just have to be patient and wait for the book to come out 🙂
One thing I will say, is I think this could possibly be the most important chapter in the entire book, so I hope you enjoy Gary’s unfiltered honesty snippet.
I get asked all the time what are my main principles or advice on how to obtain optimal health. It is a little harder than it seems, as it is different for every person. What I have done is put together what I consider to be the 5 pillars of optimal health. These are not all encompassing or perfect for everyone, but I do think most people who follow these will not only greatly improve their overall health, but their life as well.
