Building a battery enclosure for your off the grid power system is essential. Not only is it required in most places in order to pass county inspections, but also critical to protect those important and expensive batteries.
Oh boy where has the time gone so much to do haha. I know my video updates suck, as far as getting them out within a decent time frame, but I’m getting there. I will honestly say after spending 10 hours a day, pretty much everyday tying to run a business and build a house off the grid, posting things on my blog or social media is the last thing on my mind at the end of the day. But the good news is I’m done for the season so I will be rolling the updates out there at a consistent pace.
I know a lot of people have asked for an updated look at the property. I know I have been focused on the main projects the house and the solar shed. I hope this gives you a better idea of what the property looks like. 20 acres is a lot bigger than it sounds so I will try and have some more videos in the future showing other parts of the property.

Here is episode #18 of my off the grid project. In this episode I show you my handy-dandy solar power shed. What is a solar power shed you may ask? Well, it is a shed where you house your alternative energy system equipment, and install your solar panels on. In addition, I use it for storage so it serves two purposes, thus the handy-dandy designation 🙂
Below is a snippet from my upcoming Off-The-Grid book, which I hope to release in the near future. I have received a ton of questions regarding my off-the-grid project, especially about my difficulties dealing with general contractors. Anyone who has built a house or done some major remodeling knows dealing with contractors can be a serious pain in the you-know-what. There is a lot more to this chapter that I have not included, such as my advice on how to deal with bad contractors, and how to find a good one. To see the entire chapter you will just have to be patient and wait for the book to come out 🙂
One thing I will say, is I think this could possibly be the most important chapter in the entire book, so I hope you enjoy Gary’s unfiltered honesty snippet.
