My new book “Going Off The Grid” is finally here! This off the grid adventure started 10 years ago when I wanted to get back to a simpler life, such as I had growing up. There were a lot of stops and starts, but I kept at it, and finally made it happen. During the process of my project I noticed a lot of people showing interest in what I was doing, so I started documenting my progress. That is where the idea of my “Going Off The Grid” book came from.
Today a lot of terms are thrown around when it comes to living a simpler or more self-reliant lifestyle, but the word I like to use that encompasses all of them is the term survivalist.
The reason I want to put my own slant on what a survivalist means to me, is because I think the term has been skewed by popular television shows, and by people who call themselves survivalist or preppers, who are really neither.

When it comes to Off The Grid living there are definitely numerous challenges. When building your house in a remote location just getting the equipment and supplies to the build site can be one of the biggest stumbling blocks. Not only is it difficult, but it can be pretty expensive. It has added thousands of dollars in additional costs for me, but it will be well worth it in the end. Peace and quiet comes with a price haha.
Here is Episode 11 of “Gary’s Off The Grid Project.”
Hey folks, I know it has been a bit long on the updates, but I promise you I have been keeping busy with my off the grid project. I just started getting everything in order to build the house, to include permits, site prep and all that other fun stuff. In this episode I will show you the building site preparation, and what the final plans are for the house construction. Make sure to stay tuned, because I will have more videos coming shortly. I’m doing my best to document all the construction, so you can see how this crazy project is coming together.

Jack Spirko: Hi Gary. I’m glad to be here man.
Gary Collins: Yeah, we’re going to be talking about a little bit of permaculture today. I think it’s good for my followers and listeners. Jack has kind of an interesting background as well, as how he got into what he does. And if you could Jack, could you just briefly explain The Survival Podcast and what you do?
